Arguably the greatest science fiction film sequel of all time, weak only by comparison with 2001 itself. The spacewalk sequence in Jupiter space is astonishing, with or without John Lithgow, and with the spaceship crusted with Sulfur thrown up by Io volcanoes the kind of touch that only Clarke provides.
